Fairmount’s Dutch Vacation [DEMO]
A downloadable game for Windows
This is a demo made for Demo Day 52 and is a work in progress. The demo emphasizes showing gameplay while story content is limited and/or missing. To get information on the development of the game, follow this page or @WjGreeter on Twitter.
1. Introduction
The very first demo for Fairmount’s Dutch Vacation is here! Explore the cityscapes of the Netherlands, learn how to survive in the dense Dutch traffic, and get to know the larger-than-life characters who go about their day.
2. Something’s Amiss
You’re not in Pennsylvania anymore. As soon as you arrive to the Netherlands you are overwhelmed by oddities. The cities are quite deserted. Bikes and cars zip around without anybody riding them. The sun in the sky changes but the shadows on the ground are cast in place, as if painted on the antique streets. The few people that you do encounter seem to not be phased by these weird occurrences.
3. A Meaty Demo
Play through over 20 levels, Including most levels in World 1 and a few in World 2. Try branching pathways, encounter time based events, and meet a few characters.
4. Mechanically Simple and System Rich
Learn how to master the deceptively simple “Leaping Movement” mechanic, a rigid system that requires careful planning of movement but which is made complex by the player’s employment of ”Jump Cancelling” and “Invulnerability Jumps.” Random enemy spawn patterns leads to a virtually new game with every playthrough.
